...there is only now, this moment, and it is filled with pure potential and possibilities.
Do you realize how powerful you are? Often times in the storms of life, when situations don’t turn out the way you anticipate, you may feel as if someone is doing something ‘to you’ or that life is happening ‘to you” and, as such, you are a victim. I want you to understand that you are not a victim as long as you remember your power to choose to be conscious. In each new moment, you have the power to choose and choose again and again. When you recognize this and are conscious of the choices you make, you are not a victim.
To choose to be conscious is to recognize that while you are here having a very visible experience, there is another realm to your living that, while invisible, is a greater definition of yourself. Your choosing to be conscious is recognizing this greater dimension of yourself and then creating opportunities for you to experience this more expansive self outside of the time/space continuum of the visible world. For example, define yourself as a spiritual being, which means you’re limitless and boundless––you are not limited by time, calendars, the past, or future. Rather, there is only now, this moment, and it is filled with pure potential and possibilities.
Define yourself as energy, which would mean you are all pervading––there is that aspect of you connected to the One source of life and everywhere present.
Think of how your day would be defining yourself as gratitude or appreciation? Moving through all your experiences choosing to be in gratitude or appreciation for everything. No matter what shows up in your day, you would meet it with heartfelt gratitude or appreciation.
What about defining yourself as love, which would mean you are anchored in the most powerful and compelling force in the universe. You would walk through your experiences aware of your oneness with God; since God is love. There would be no fear, no judgment, no shame, no guilt, no worry, no doubt, no limitation. All of these are even now true for you and speak to the essence of your being.
When you choose to be conscious, you might take an aspect of yourself each day and meditate on it, read about it, sit with it and feel the energy of it, affirming it within so you recognize it as the core vibrational frequency you choose to operate AS that particular day. Gradually, as you identify and define yourself as love, energy, a spiritual being, as gratitude or appreciation, you live from it––thus act from it, and thus realize you are it. What makes this practice so powerful and transformational is that as you stand in a particular vibrational frequency––for example, gratitude––you draw it to yourself, as well as activate it in each experience. So, in spite of what is going on, or how just the day before you may have been complaining about a situation, choosing to be conscious will shift your vibrational frequency––opening you to a higher perspective of your experiences.
The next part of choosing to be conscious, is choosing to operate from your heart. Think about your intellect trying to wrap itself around the paradoxical statement of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Obviously, this sage practice is for each of us to offer compassion, appreciation, love and forgiveness to others, without waiting for them to offer it in return. It is only the heart that has the capacity to capture this spiritual practice. And so it is when you align yourself with a higher definition of yourself. You want to bypass the ego and it’s attempts to analyze, figure out or create a story about everything, and instead, go straight to the heart of the matter. When you are choosing to be conscious, not only are you aligning with a higher definition of yourself, but you are also choosing to anchor yourself in your heart space and allow all the magnificence you are at your core––to shine forth.
What makes this magical is: once you set the intention to do so, because there is cellular memory of who you really are (whole, perfect and complete, love, joy, and gratitude), it effortlessly activates that which is already within you and simply flows forth. All that you have to do is choose to be conscious. Choose to define yourself from the greater aspects of your being and choose to operate from your heart.
