Positive emotions
help us not only feel
better, but make our
body feel better and
heal itself.

Worrying constantly is an invitation to illness. Worry––the constant inner chatter that makes us insecure, unhappy and reduced in spirit––causes depression, ulcers, obesity and many other illnesses. Depression is now rated as the most prevalent debilitating illness in the Western world. More and more, medical practitioners are convinced many of our illnesses have a link to emotional factors.

Dr. Masaru Emoto in his book Messages from Water describes his experiments with tap water to show how our thoughts and words influence water and alter its basic form and expression. Dr. Emoto conducted a series of experiments directing his thoughts on bottled tap water; he also spoke to the water with different emotions.

He did this for a number of days. He then froze the water and viewed the water crystals under microscope. Dr. Emoto found that positive emotions such as love allowed the water to create beautiful water crystals and negative emotions of fear and anger distorted the shapes created by the water.

Human body is over 85% water. Human mind body system is affected by thoughts and words that come from thoughts. Our thoughts shape our decisions; our decisions shape our actions; our actions shape our lives.

Mind and body are not separate. Mind lives in each of our cells. The body is our mind, our mind is our body. The correct expression should be mindbody not mind and body.

All emotions that we both express and do not express go deep within our system and affect us. Positive emotions help us not only feel better, but make our body feel better and heal itself––rejuvenate itself.

Negative emotions burn us, corrode us, and destroy us. Even when we suppress these emotions they harm us. Suppressed anger is just as bad as expressed anger; both are shown to increase incidence of heart attack.
Try this simple exercise.

When you get up in the morning, touch your body lovingly. Express your love to your body; express your gratitude to existence for giving you this body. Feel proud of your body. This is a Sufi meditation technique that increases your self image.

Once you have a strong self image you feel it much easier to love others. Your need to express your negative emotions, both upon yourself and others decreases. You become healthier in bodymind.
