LOVE IS: A state of being

Love is the
creative impulse––
the cause,
back of all effects.

We live in a perfect world. Even though conventional wisdom might have it that our world is flawed or in total chaos; back of the apparent chaos is order. Everything that happens is the result of lawful and orderly processes. All occurrence is the result of the law of cause and effect fulfilling itself. Every thought we think sets this law in motion. It faithfully reproduces the images of our thoughts by projecting them as our experience of life. Love is perfect and is working flawlessly: giving us back (through law) exactly what we put into it with our thoughts.

Love is God and the only reality: unchanging; everlasting; and indestructible. Love is more than the tender, affection we feel for another. Love is more than our strong predilections for things. What is more, we are made in God’s image and likeness. We are what It Is. Therefore, we are love. Spiritual man is God. Physical man is God’s creation: Its expression. As human beings, we are God in the flesh. Ernest Holmes described love as “the self-givingness of Spirit through the desire of Life to express Itself in terms of creation.” Love is the creative impulse––the cause, back of all effects. Our core essence is love even though we may not be living in integrity with this Truth. If we are not in alignment, it only means we may have bought into an untruth about ourselves.

God made us free to discover ourselves. That freedom includes the freedom to think whatever. But with that freedom comes responsibility for the consequences of our choices and our thinking, because our thoughts are creative. Everything that appears is a result of our conscious or unconscious (or our constructive or destructive) use of Mind. We are dealing here with the Law of Mind: a law that never stops working. As we change our thinking, we change our experience of life.

The attitude that finds it difficult to accept that ALL is love, lives in the phenomenal world of illusion: one that is made up of projections of one’s limited concept of reality. That concept is based solely on one’s experience. It places all faith into that which can be seen with the human eye, touched with the human hand, or that appeals to the temporal senses. This mindset gives little credence to First Cause; the spiritual; that which supports the physical realm. What we see and touch is only a very minor part of all that is. What we see is supported by that which is unseen.

Love defies our concepts and is the Truth of our being. It transcends the limits of human thought. Love is our true nature and essence. Unless we consciously unify with this Truth, we remain separated from our source and powerless: reducing the power of love within us to nothing more than limited concepts of our own thoughts.
