beneficial.

There are many causes related to headache pain. Some of them are stress, hormone imbalance, sinus pressure, jaw tension, neck tension, worry, poor posture, tension in the face, eye strain, food sensitivities, dehydration, allergies, hangover, and various other causes.
While there is not enough space to list all of the ‘alternative’ cures for a headache, here are some easy solutions I have found particularly beneficial.

1. ACUPRESSURE
There is an acupressure point behind the earlobes that is great for headaches. Gently place a finger behind each earlobe (in the little “dip” between the jaw and the neck). Keep your fingers in this position for about 5 minutes or until the headache goes away, with the intention of releasing tension from the body, particularly the head.
Sometimes it helps to imagine the tension releasing and being sent down the body, into the ground, to be released and neutralized.
I have found approximately 75% of my clients who come in for headache relief find relief with this simple trick.
I also find it works better when someone else holds the points, rather than the person with the headache holding the points.
If the headache is related to sinus pressure, some good points for relief are along the brow bone. Gently place your fingertips along your brow (you can skip the thumb) and hold them there for about 5 minutes.

2. SOAK YOUR FEET
Another trick is to soak your feet in warm water. Add a drop of Bergamot aromatherapy oil, or an Earl Grey tea bag (which contains Bergamot).
While your feet are soaking, place a cold compress on your head and neck.
Energetically, some headaches are caused by too much energy in and around the head. This process will balance the energy and bring excess energy back to the feet.

3. LAVENDER AROMATHERAPY OIL
Rub two drops of lavender essential oil in your hands and then place your hands on your forehead for about 5 minutes. I recommend the brand Young Living because it is one of the purest available. You also might want to take a moment to rub a bit on the back of your neck. Be sure to keep breathing through your nose, so the scent of the oil can take effect. You should feel the headache start to dissipate.

4. HYDRATE AND REST
If none of the tips listed above help, a headache may be your body’s way of saying it’s time to slow down. Have two big glasses of water and lay down to rest your body and mind for a bit. Sometimes even 15 minutes will do the trick. When you get up again, have another glass of water.
