It’s been said that life is like a “waking dream”. Interpreting what life is telling us is a worth-while endeavor leading to spiritual mastery. Life has a language, and like any language, words and pictures are used as an internal experience to portray external events. We associate and/or connect external reality with an internal representation, thus creating meaningful language. This can be in the form of sounds or images.
With this basic foundation and understanding of what language is, we can apply these principles on a more spiritual level. We can practice the following easy technique that’s a personal foundation for understanding outer reality intelligence and what it’s communicating. When practicing this over a period of time, the practitioner learns to interpret everyday life’s symbolism and secret language. Soon the subconscious dictionary will amass not only a numerous vocabulary, but with mastery of this interpretation, it’ll become second nature in understanding life’s messages.
This technique is also used in interpreting dreams. It’s actually a formalized method we use in understanding an abstract reality. This is a natural aspect of the human thinking process. You, the reader, have already been employing this since reading this article. Essentially, it’s breaking down words of abstract meaning to a more uncomplicated, concrete expression. If we further break down these words to explain to a ten year old, and then further break those words down to explain to a six year old, then to a three year old, we come to a method of understanding our dreams. For those who keep a dream journal or wish to master this internal ability of understanding, dreams are a good source with which to practice this technique.
Just write two or three sentences that encapsulate the dream experience and a title that best expresses the dream. Then break down the different words in those sentences as if explaining it to a ten year old, six year old and finally a three year old. In doing so, the message of the dream becomes clear. For example, if there’s a rabbit in your dream, explaining the word rabbit to a ten year old might be “cute furry animal”. A three year old might understand “nice hairy animal”. If we practice every day on our dreams, this deciphering ability becomes a subconscious tool and we start to get intuitive insights into life around us in our daily “waking dream.” In time, we can decipher what physical reality is revealing.
