The Phoenix’s a bird with a great reputation
For creating its own periodic cremation.
Then from its ashes it’s reborn again
Leaving behind all things called a “sin.”
Rising anew without limitations,
Free to explore its actualization.

As New Year unfolds it’s important that we
Realize, like the Phoenix, that we can be free.
Free to be silly, free to laugh, love and play.
And recreate ourselves anew every day.
Free to let go of the way that we’ve been,
Free to wipe away thoughts holding us in.

We’ve imprisoned ourselves by limiting thoughts,
Like an elephant tethered by a rope long forgot.
The world is our oyster, let’s open it up
And develop new tastes, new talents and such.
They say that we use 10% of our brain,
What wonders await us if 50 we gain?

As children we knew that we really could fly.
Amazing potential shone bright in our eyes.
Wild animal tamer, astronaut or a clown,
Policeman or actress or doctor renown.
Whatever we thought, we knew we could be,
The world would support us; it was our trustee.

Then messages came to shatter our notions,
That life would be easy and fun––a promotion;
Fear of falling or failing, or looking the fool.
Conforming became the unfortunate rule.
With that came the shutout of other dimensions,
Engineered to guide us to our unique ascensions.

Lack is a false thought keeping most in detention:
Whether money or time or approved-of intention,
Lack of connections, or knowledge, or skill,
Lack of esteem, or purpose or will.
The Truth of the matter is there’s always enough,
If you open yourself to your essential stuff.

Your essence is part of a wondrous plan
Designed to support you wherever you land.
Regardless of choices you’ve made once before,
You’re encouraged to open many new doors.
Shake off the fear and the lack by recalling
The strength of your spirit before you were stalling.

What did you love? What gave you great joy?
How did you play? What were your toys?
What is the Universe calling you to?
What’s buried within you desiring to do?
Important it is, in the scheme of all things,
Connected to others, a link in a chain.

This is the time; this is the day!
Seize it right now without any delay.
Become the one you have wanted to be.
Become the one the world is waiting to see.
Not an imposter, a hoax or a fake,
Just the you that’s on fire and is very awake.

So in this New Year of 2000 and 6
Burn your fears and your lacks
Like the wise old Phoenix.
Rise up anew and become what you are,
A beautiful ever-renewing light star.
