“There is another way of looking at the world.” (Lesson 33)
I am absolutely determined that this year, I am ready to see things differently. I am so bored with my old reaction to things I think I see in the world. I am weary from all the judgments I have carried around for so long. I state, right now, in this moment, that I am willing to make a tiny space of willingness for Spirit, Itself, to guide me to a new way of seeing.
A Course in Miracles encourages me to see anew every January with the following passage: “This is a special time of promise in your calendar of days…This day is holy, for it ushers in a new experience; a different kind of feeling and awareness.” How empowering it is to believe that this day, this new month of a new year, holds the possibility of new experience and awareness for us. Simply by setting the intention, by being truly determined, you too can open yourself to new experiences.
Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science, was thoroughly convinced of this truth. He wrote, “The way to work is to begin right where we are and, through constantly applying ourselves to the Truth, we gradually increase in wisdom and understanding.” He continues, “If day by day we have a greater understanding and a clearer concept, then we are on the right path and we shall be made free.” Holmes says, TAKE TIME EVERY DAY TO SEE YOUR LIFE AS YOU WISH IT TO BE!
Take a moment, right now, and envision how you would like your life to be…
With a vision in place, we can begin to live a new life. It’s as simple as choosing to live a bit more consciously. Jesus emphasized that we always get back what we give out. Ernest Holmes was very specific about this, when he wrote that the light we throw on others is generated from our own soul. He stated, “If one sees only unloveliness in others, it is because unloveliness is a strong element in himself…he sees them as he chooses to see them.” We see what we choose to see based upon a mental equivalent, a strong mental image we hold in our mind. Our possibilities can never extend beyond that concept.
So we are invited, in this very moment, to step out of the old concept and into something lovely and fresh and new. Will you join me in beginning again? Will you stretch and join me this year in seeing the world with new vision? Grand possibilities loom ahead of each one of us. Great potential awaits us, potential for us to love and be loved and to change the world with our openness to this Love. Fix your vision on that which is unchangeable. Let your stillpoint be God and the illumination that comes from that choice will brighten your world to a glorious new way of walking through all of your experiences.
I challenge you, to surrender with me this year, to a fresh, new way of seeing the world. Let us together find a new way of being with each other. And let us join in loving this world into a healing so grand that we remember for good, that only Love is real. Namaste’
