Recurring Dreams May Hold Guidance

Reoccuring Dreams
Many of us have experienced times in our lives where we seem to be at a crossroads. We may find ourselves in a rut, have a quandary over which direction to go, or in confusion over how to handle a situation. Divine assistance is readily available, and one of the ways we receive such guidance is via recurring dreams. Once a person is able to discover the deeper meaning of a recurrent dream and apply the information in their life, that particular dream generally ceases to occur. Our angels and spirit guides infuse us with knowledge which is designed to assist with transitions in our lives. If we are receiving recurring dreams, it is because there is something which our spiritual guardians are helping us to work through.

The following is an illustration which shows how a recurring dream manifested for a young man named Ron. The recurrent dream was disturbing to him. He saw himself in a home with a sliding glass door. Ron noticed a cat outside, so he opened up the sliding glass door in order to get a better view of the little creature. As he drew closer, he observed that the cat had a damaged hind leg which was somewhat stiff. The cat then limped over to a dead puppy and began to consume the head of the puppy.

In this dream, being inside the house represents Ron’s inner self. It symbolizes him, looking out at the world beyond his immediate being. As there was a glass door, he was able to see outside––yet the door itself still presented a barrier. At a certain point, Ron noticed something which captured his attention, so he decided to open the door and venture outside. This was a positive symbol, indicating that he was willing to step beyond his comfort zone to experience new things in the surrounding universe.

Ron observed that the cat had a damaged hind leg. From his vantage point within the house, the cat seemed perfectly fine. Yet, when he got near enough to see more closely, it turned out the cat was physically damaged. In fact, the cat limped when it walked; it had an impediment which affected how it was able to move about in the world. This part of the dream serves to remind us that things are not always as they seem, and to go forward cautiously when venturing into areas which are unknown. The caution is to use common sense and gut instincts; to observe the entirety of a situation before making hasty judgments.

The final imagery, while this was a disturbing scene, is strictly symbolic. Ron was called upon to look beyond what he is able to see with his physical eyes. It is important to realize in this dream, the puppy was already deceased and its soul had departed for the spiritual world. The cat required sustenance for its survival, and the puppy was there to provide it and was not being harmed. The cat was simply taking care of itself and meeting its own needs the best way it could. As the cat could not run and jump, it needed to eat something which would be easy for it to obtain.

The lesson in this recurring dream was to show Ron how to go beyond his initial reaction. Ron was being guided to look upon situations with an open heart, mind and spirit. This is a lesson which actually holds truths for us all. Do your best to view the entirety of the situation, and treat those who cross your path with compassion. Look beyond what can be seen with the “physical eyes”. Get a feel and sense for why someone (i.e., the cat) might be doing a certain action. If you are able to approach new situations with empathy, compassion and understanding, you may come away with a different perspective and broader sense of awareness.
