HIGHLIGHT
It is light that dances softly on baby’s face,
makes me sigh--same sunlight,
same warmth that always has been
we share the sun, my baby and I, with
a hundred million aunties, and mommies,
and grandmothers
A hundred million afternoons, naps,
sighs of gratitude,
And kisses, on soft baby brows
Light, creating moments, shared like
loafs and fishes to a multitude of women
watching babies sleep.

VISITORS IN MY HOME come from places far away; rarely stay: they bring news, ring my house with opinion clamor, clang, can be fiery, overwhelm me; but I keep the salt handy, take it a grain at a time. ©Wiltshire 2005
BEAUTY Natural beauty is a rare find It puts the sparkle in an eye. Outside it’s only skin deep Tall - not short, slim - not stout Everyone cares - but it’s not kept. Inside it’s found, a true bliss A valuable treasure - caring Kindness - it lasts forever. ©Tim Yang 2004
POETRY IS Words They dance my feet and sing my heart Whether timed and rhymed Or splattered apart. Images I see now what I couldn’t before. I’m left, somehow satisfied, But still wanting more. ©Wiltshire 2005
MOUNTAIN LAKES Angry fishermen threaten with fists and permits to the long beak pelican interloper on patrol gulping what he could. ©Gilberto Hurtado 2005
AFTER DESERT RAIN I’m airing out anger under a desert sun, where Spring is understanding and serene. Prophets’ arms reach up in invocation. Joshua trees are holding prayer meetings enfolded by faithful flocks of wild flowers. Here hues I had lost are given back to me; blue sage, gold poppies, mojave asters. Soon I’ve forgotten how to be angry. ©Lee Collins 2005
SPRING AWAKENS Springtime sprouts tender memories of a strong and devoted mother, tirelessly sweeping cobwebs from every corner of our home. Reminiscence turns quest inward to discover musty accumulations, requiring dusting off of tranquility allowed to agitate by winter of soul. ©Albert Lee Moran 2005
