The concept of inhabitants of the Earth looking to the stars for guidance, answers and hope is one of the oldest practices known on the planet. Astrology and horoscope readings are some of the very first documented forms of human beings attempting to understand themselves and the cosmos. It shows up in etchings on cave drawings, symbols in Egyptian tombs and early texts from ancient civilizations.
With such a rich history, taking your first steps into horoscope readings can be an intimidating thing. While there is an extensive amount of information available, understanding the basic concepts and theories is no harder than learning to ride a bike. With ample studying, you might be surprised to be constantly finding new layers of meaning hidden behind everyday activities that you might have otherwise written off as good or bad luck.
So Astrology Is…
Astrology is often mis-categorized as a science due to its similarly pronounced cohort, astronomy. Astrologists typically have more in common with practices like yoga and eastern therapies like acupuncture and Feng Shui. Astrology is more appropriately labeled as a metaphysical philosophy. Think of astrology as a lens that, when applied to our lives, allows us to see things in contrasting, and often more vibrant colors.

Well the shift is here and you've probably noticed that it's all speeded up. The energy is moving through you, or at least it's trying. When it hits an obstacle and you can't get it through, it pushes the obstacle right to the surface of your consciousness. Are you may be feeling more pain, anger, argumentative, dizzy, unfocused, lethargic, purposeless, etc. That's it. It's the shift and it's bringing up your "sh--t". Everything is up for processing and hopefully uses this period to release.
So what's the shift and why is it doing that? People have been talking about this December 21st, 2012, end date of the Mayan Calendar for quite some time. Well the world didn't end, obviously, but something's different. This is serious, so I'm going to try and give you a simple explaination in the short space of this article.
You're probably aware of astrology and how the planets are moving in and about certain constellations and that causes shifts in the physical world. The reason that it works that way is because the entire universe is composed of one energy that radiates from the center of the universe through all the galaxies, through the Milky Way, the solar system, planet earth and finally right through the top of you, through your body and into the earth.

Altruism is nothing more than a measure of how broadly one defines oneself. As long as there are those who exist outside that definition, my journey is not finished. It is, sometimes, a perplexing trip.
One the one hand, an individual’s life exists for that one alone. The body is designed to propagate itself, to learn, and to survive as long as it can. I have seen many people who do not have that sense of self, not because they have reached a high level of spiritual development, but because they do not believe they have personal value.
Christianity is a root cause of that lack of self worth, because it teaches, as its central doctrine, that the individual is flawed, and unworthy. The reasoning goes something like this: God causes himself to be born, so he can sacrifice himself, to himself, to make up for his original design flaw. And we are made to believe its our fault!
If you do not honor yourself, how can you honor another? If you do not respect yourself, how can you respect another?
As social animals, however, we are enmeshed with others who exist for the same reason. And the more of us there are, the more we have to compete for the stuff of survival. It is the way of the natural order, from galaxies devouring one another in cosmic gravity dances, to the battle between the creosote bush and other desert plants for scarce water resources.
One yogi (I don’t remember who) said something like, “Everything is food.”
The other side of the coin, during this perplexing trip, is the possibility of recognizing that its purpose is to grow up and out, so that I do not perceive the trip as being about me alone, but about us. “Us” is just a big word for “me.”

The word “horoscope” comes from the Greek word horoskopos which means “watcher of the hour” or “observer of the hour.” The exact origin and history of horoscopes is, unfortunately, undocumented. We can trace the oldest known horoscope back to Babylon in April 29, 410 B.C., though it probably wasn’t much like any horoscope that we know of today. A lot of things have changed in the last couple thousand years
A Form of Astrology
Astrology is the broader school of study that horoscopes fall under, and is also primarily concerned with divination through the study of planetary and celestial relationships. Multiple cultures around the globe developed systems of astrology independently, including Mediterranean peoples like the Greeks, Eastern Asians such as the Chinese, and Mesoamericans including the Aztecs and the Mayans, just to name a few. The importance of the heavenly bodies to the human psyche is demonstrated by multiple cultures’ individual development of varying astrological systems, despite their wide geographical differences.
The Astrology of December 21, 2012

According to a lot of people, December, 2012 will bring either great disaster, or great awakening. What's the astrology about all of this?
Astrology is about cycles. All of the 2012 configurations, began with the harmonic convergence in the 1980s and was stepped up in 2011 when a series of hard aspects between Uranus and Pluto began. There were Grand Crosses with planets in Cardinal signs (These are Aries, Cancer, Libra, Virgo).
Uranus - the planet of independence and unexpected change had a hand in the "Arab Spring." Then there was the "Occupy movement" spurred on by the interactions of Uranus with Pluto. Pluto has a hand in shifting old energy that needs changing. He is not subtle. He is an atom bomb.
What's different with this cycle of Pluto and Uranus?
In 2012, the galactic equator stands at 0 degrees Capricorn. This is where the Sun will be at the Winter solstice - Dec. 21.
At 11:12 GMT on December 21, the Sun will contact what is called the "Dark Rift" located near the center of the galaxy. This is referred to by the Mayans as the "Cosmic Womb," a place of great transformation, death, birth, and awakening from darkness.
With this alignment, plus Pluto in Capricorn, old structures that have been stable for a long time in society are crumbling and need to be renovated.
The players for this time of year are Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, plus minor support figures of Mars, Mercury, and Venus.

An Elixir is a vibrational remedy. Crystals and stones vibrate at specific frequencies, by placing a crystal in a glass/bowl of water, the water takes on and holds the essence of the crystal or stone. You may use elixirs as a salve by mixing them with an oil, add a few drops to your bath, or in most cases, they can be taken internally.
Start with a clean glass jar or glass bowl with no patterns, designs, or etchings on it. Do not use plastic. Fill the glass with distilled water, not mineral water. Most tap water is too polluted or full of minerals.
The crystal or stone you will be using can be natural, cut and polished, or tumbled.
So that you minimize any danger of the water also absorbing your personal energy, use tongs, or a spoon to place the crystal/stone into the water. Leave it there for a minimum of 4 hours. There is no maximum time.

In Judeo-Christian mythology, Lilith was Adam's first wife, created at the same time he was, although some alternative texts have her being created first, on the fifth day. She left Adam because she refused to be subservient to him. She left Eden after she coupled with archangel Samael. Lilith was originally a Sumerian/Babylonian/Hebrew goddess of childbirth, children, women, and sexuality. When the rise of patriarchal Christianity took hold, she was demonized. Alas, many of the old goddesses suffered a similar fate.
Astrologically, The Dark Moon Lilith is represented by a specific point in the Moon's orbit, not a physical object. It is when the Moon is at its farthest point from the Earth. She moves 40 degrees 40 minutes a year, that's about 3 degrees and 23 minutes per month. It takes 9 years for her to pass through the whole Zodiac. There is also an asteroid named Lilith. Not the same goddess. The Dark Moon Lilith, or Black Moon Lilith as she is sometimes called is too mysterious and obscure for a physical presence. She is the deeper side of the feminine, the wild, free, sensual being that society and religion shun. She is subservient to no one and revels in the pleasure she can give and receive.

Throughout my life, there have been numerous times when the metaphysical community has become enthusiastic, excited, or anxious about a prophecy that was supposed to bring great awakening or great disaster to the Earth. Without exception, the result has proven to be less than anticipated.
I have learned to take a wait-and-see stance to all the predictions of global disaster, ET invasions, the coming of Christ, the awakening of super spirituality, and the beginning of the Aquarian Age, etc. As an astrologer, I check the “stars” with each prediction and usually the hype is exaggerated or even completely off-base, perhaps because of miscalculations or lack of deeper knowledge of esoteric astrology.
I also check with living saints and sages of the world to find out what they have to say in the matter. Usually there is either no mention of the event or that it is greatly exaggerated.
However, in 2007 the transit of Venus between the Sun and the Earth was talked about in the circles of scientists as well as saints and sages.
Sexuality is a complex subject. It is probably written about more than any other subject. When it comes to sexuality in astrology, much can be said that goes far beyond your sun sign at birth. I’m often asked questions like “I’m an Aries. Am I compatible with Virgos? This is something like saying, “I’m an American. Am I compatible with Italians?” Astrology can determine, in finite detail, your sexual nature; what kinds of mates are better for you than others; what types you will be attracted to or draw to you; what you expect from a mate; whether you are likely to have one committed relationship or many, and what they’ll be like.
Determining all this however, takes more than just looking at your “Sign.” A complete horoscope needs to be charted. The astrologer will then look at your Sun and Moon signs, the asteroid Juno, your fifth, seventh, eighth, and twelfth houses, what planets are there and what signs are on those houses and the planets that “rule” them. Pretty complex stuff, but worth the effort. You’ll know more about yourself, or another, than years of traditional analysis could ever reveal. I won’t go into technical detail here, but there are some important things you can found out from your Sun sign.
The day you are born, the Sun is said to be “in” a certain sign. This is what you know as your “sign.” Although your Sun sign is but a fraction of your love personality, it is a significant one.
The Sun represents your basic inner self, your overall inner direction. Keeping in mind that other things in your chart will adjust and alter the influences of the Sun, these energies will be with you and you will express them in many, if not all, ways.

ARIES: With your fire, you’ll be a driving force in any relationship. Your powerful libido energy can stir newly awakened feelings in your partner(s). Choose partners who aren’t likely to be singed by your heat.
Editor's Thoughts

Lot's happening in the world arena, both secular and spiritual. Astrology has never been so interesting (to me). On Tuesday, July 3, the Full Moon in Capricorn opposes the Sun in Cancer. This speaks to balance between home and public life. Celestial oppositions of Sun and Moon can affect our personal lives and the political climate worldwide.
Cancer wants us to be homebodies and pay attention to our immediate family. Capricorn is about more wide-spread responsibilities and influences our career, sense of duty, and public life.
If you are a Cancer or Capricorn, or have these signs strongly indicated in your chart, you might be having a tug of war between what you want and what you think you "should" do. You might want to stay home but are forced into a career or public life that takes you away from home. It could be just the opposite. You might be pursuing a public life or career and be forced to pay more attention to what's happening at home.
Oppositions always demand a compromise. We must find a way to do both without completely sacrificing one or the other. This can play out on the personal or global scale.
The United States, that resonates to both Cancer and Capricorn pretty strongly is struggling with issues at home and the need to be an influence in the world. This won't be resolved anytime soon, but it is a comfort to know that if astrology has anything to say about it, eventually, a middle ground will be struck to solve many of our problems.
The slow-moving planets are the ones to look at for deep cycles in our life and for global issues. Right now:
