There are so many things in this life that need to be taught and as a human being or a child or even as an adult or as a parent, how do you find your core sense of self?   How is it  that you are happy with yourself no matter what is going on around you?  so in other words,  how do you practice the art of staying centered amidst all the distraction? How do you find your center amidst all the distractions that life has to offer you? 

Most religions began with a channelled message from the spirit realms (for example, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Channelling is an immensely ancient ability that was used by prophets, sibyls, shamans and wisdom keepers of many of our earliest civilisations. 

The process involves not only speaking to Spirit but also listening for a reply. On a visit to Mount Sinai/Horeb, Moses channelled the 10 Commandments, similarly other Old Testament prophets communed with their deity to gain wisdom. 

The concept of mediumship is nothing new. It has been around for thousands of years within various cultures and religions. Yet, while many throughout the world today continue to embrace the practice of spirit communication it is still largely frowned upon in western society.

Since the early 1800’s to mid 1900‘s, there have been several documented cases of mediums making contact with the spirit world. However, for the purpose of this article as well as time constraint, I will mention just a few of the more well-known mediums of that time. Among them were Edgar Cayce, Maggie and Katie Fox, Allen Kardec and Emma Hardinge Britten. Fast forward to today, and you will find a whole new breed of mediums making a name for themselves such as James Van Praagh, John Edward, John Holland  and Lisa Williams, each creating an atmosphere of peace and comfort for some, deep skepticism and controversy from others. And at the root of the controversy always seems to be the same age-old question….is it real? 

Do you feel like a misfit, misunderstood, out of time, from another era? Are your hopes and dreams falling apart? This is a period of great change and, for many, great change can be scary. 

In the past, there’s always been lots of reality systems to choose from; peer groups to belong to,  endless strings of romantic partners, philosophies to believe in, etc. . There was always someone who would take care of us when everything fell apart, from our parents to the government. We could endlessly entertain ourselves – movies, drugs, etc etc. But it’s all running down, breaking down,  and it’s becoming obvious to everyone. 

When you have an inspirational thought, or you receive a thought that inspires you, have you ever wondered if you were capable of sending that thought or idea to yourself? Could the thought or idea be based upon something that you should have done and didn’t do in a previous lifetime? And now you are receiving it? And you are inspired to do it or even try doing it again this time around? Only this time you know how to do it? Or how to go about doing it?

Let’s talk for a few minutes about what the soul and the spirit do from lifetime to lifetime. And how it is that you are so easy to do certain things in your life without feeling that you have to have any practice or schooling at it. What value would you get in this human existence if you had previous lifetimes experience to help you?
