With long necks outstretched, pink flamingos fly homeward at dusk. The sky over the Paracas sea is a deep red-orange where hundreds of birds soar in the sunset light that exalts their wild freedom. www.Novica.com

"Culture is not dead... It lives through the artist and his work."

Arturo Alvarez

Born in Lima on August 3, 1964, Arturo Alvarez graduated in 1992 from the National School of Fine Arts. Since 1994 he has dedicated his time exclusively to his art work, which he describes as a means of expressing the cosmology and vision of the Andes. Inspired by the myths and legends of his homeland, he strives to transmit their mystery, magic and color. "Culture is not dead," he states. "It lives through the artist and his work. We have an identity all our own."

Alvarez works primarily in oils, and has participated in gallery expositions throughout Peru.
