However, this is going to be a volatile year. In fact, the domino effect for what is happening now and in 2012 started fifty years ago with Pluto stirring things up. The powerful astrological patterns that start in 2012 go through 2015. Pluto and Uranus are the celebrities in the sandbox and all the other planets circle around rooting for one side or the other.
We are in a period of significant change and transformation fueled by Uranus, a planet of surprise, unexpected change, breakthrough, and whoopsi-doo. Uranus is The Fool card in Tarot. We are walking merrily along, minding our own business, when Whoops, we step right off a cliff into the unknown. Fortunately, when we land, we are the Magician with everything we want and only a learning curve to make change happen.
So we are in the sandbox, in 2012 with Uranus and Pluto. Pluto is The Judgment card, a deep and transformational card that calls us to rise up and embrace higher change as a species. It is the planet and card of revolution and, "I'm mad as Hell and not going to take it any more."
In my Tarot Course lesson on the Judgement card, I tell you:
". . .Often this card is interpreted as karma repaid or balanced, in other words, getting what we deserve. This is true, but it is deeper than simple, mundane retribution or payback. With JUDGEMENT, we have gone through many changes and may not have even been fully aware of the steps it took to get to the stage that this card represents. Here is a deep call from our soul to make the last transformation, one that will have an effect on the world in either a small or large way."
JUDGEMENT’s number, 20, reduces down to 2, the number of THE HIGH PRIESTESS. Her robes began the flow of the Stream of Consciousness. JUDGMENT is where that Stream of Consciousness ends. We are now freely existing in it. . . ."
Pluto and Uranus come together in a stressful relationship (square) on June 24 and September 19, 2012; May 20 and November 1, 2013; April 21 and December 15, 2014; March 16, 2015.
The last time period that these planets squared off was in 1932-1934. The great depression was in full swing in the USA, also caused by Wall Street according to historians. In the world, at this time Fascism was coming into power and uprooting old regimes (one of Pluto's favorite games). Let's hope we have learned something from history and we won't go back to the great depression. It looks hopeful.
Pluto and Uranus also had their way with us in the 1960's but then it was a push for social change and more racial and gender equality. These two powerhouse planets formed a close relationship (conjunction) in 1965 and 1966 rousing us to "turn on, tune in, and drop out." Those in tune with the energies of Pluto and Uranus changed the way we experience sexuality, race, and gender. Well, for many of us. There are still too many knuckle-draggers for my comfort.
So with Uranus and Pluto together, we can expect surprises and revolutionary transformation for the next three years. This is already happening. However, there is resistance. The polarity we are feeling worldwide between conservatives and liberals seems to be ripping apart the fabric of our world. The collective awareness is generally fed up with the bickering and childishness of those who make the rules. People are heeding Pluto and Uranus, plus a changing landscape of other planetary helpers, and taking to the streets.
Uranus is in Aries. Aries doesn't take kindly to being told what to do and he is all about innovation, pioneering, and original thought. Aries is the Emperor in Tarot. He is strong, ever ready to defend his position, forceful, and on the go. Uranus is comfortable in Aries, more motivated and focused. The other major player in the sandbox is Pluto, entrenched in Capricorn. This is the sign of rules, regulations, status-quo, no change, conservative thinking, order, and security. Capricorn is The Devil Card in the Tarot.
The Devil card is one of the "scary" cards that those who don't understand Tarot misinterpret. The Devil card represents us being chained to our own fears, limiting beliefs, and unwanted learned behavior. It is a call to throw off those chains and move into our freedom from negative limitations.
Capricorn fears change and can be ruthless in preventing it. Pluto, the most powerful not-a-planet in the solar system for global change, is stifled in Capricorn but poses a definite threat to any change or transformation.
So there they are, Pluto and Uranus throwing sand in each other's faces and knocking over each other's sand castles. In the end it is us who will determine the outcome. Will we return to 1950's values or move ahead with innovation, positive change, and social and scientific advances? Will we explore the heavens, or be afraid to fall off the edge of the universe?
As we move ahead into the future, there will be resistance. It is up to us to help or hinder our progress into a world of peace, cooperation, and innovation. This will happen anyway, it is up to us to reduce collateral damage and bloodshed in the process.
