Numbers by Design - May 2012

Written by  Kathleen Jacoby

Numerology is the  study of number as symbols for principles operating throughout life. Numbers refer to concepts and vibration that influence our lives, and as found within our birth information, provides a blueprint of the soul's journey. Each number has specific meaning and potential, and the number influencing you during any given year provides helpful information and suggestions for making the most of your opportunities.

The overview of the month is listed below and will be in operation throughout 2012, regardless of when your birthday is.

Figure the number of your year by adding your birth month to the day of your birth, plus the number 5, for 2012 (2+0+1+2=5). Keep adding the numbers together until you are left with one digit between 1 and 9.

For instance, if your birthday is November 24, you would add 11+ 24 + 5 (for 2012), and the total would be 40. Add 4+0 = 4. If yours comes out to a double digit, reduce this number by adding the total together until you only have one digit. For example, 12 would be added as 1+2=3. 3 is the final digit, so your number for 2012 is 3.

If you have a number that contains a zero, such as 10, add it as follows (1+0=1). If your total is a double digit number such as 11, add each number together until you get only one digit. (1+1=2) Personal years work in nine-year cycles, so we are only concerned with numbers 1 through 9.

1 – Events point to the need for healing. Take good care of yourself and be prepared to consider the care others need in your environment, whether for health or emotional support. As you respond to what is going on with a loving heart, you pave the way for smoother interactions, and you allow others to show appreciation that may surprise you. This month requires a slowdown as it is time to go back to hearth and home and see where you need to mend fences, and where it is important to let those you love know you are there for them and are not going to leave them behind. The key to all dilemmas this month is to respond with a Loving Heart.

2 – You may need more time to recharge your batteries and restore yourself. Nature is healing. Quiet times are important. Rest is restorative. Be still and move into the interior portion of your life. Come closer to your Creator, and strengthen your spiritual underpinnings. When you go beyond appearances in the outer world, you can find a place of peace that transcends chaos and welcomes you to inner communion. This is important and helps to strengthen the fabric of your perception so that you can craft your special gifts into meaningful work.

3 – Striving for balance is still centered in effort, and so to create a perfect point of balance and harmony, give yourself to the flow of life this month. The current may meander or push you through a rough patch, but as you relax and remain fluid in the face of multiple pieces of information and objectives, you can integrate, delegate, and benefit from whatever is presented. Perception dictates reality, so find a view you want to enjoy!

4 – Many pieces fall into place as you have something to complete. When you look at the constructs of your life, be sure to climb to the metaphorical mountaintop so that you can see the overview and not be caught in a narrow view. Gratitude is an incredible mantra, and opens the way for more good to come. Disappointment and distress are caused through attachment to a way you want things to be. Let go and trust that something greater is at work. Bring the gift of larger vision to everything you do and you will feel helping hands assisting you in completing your objectives.

5 – Things begin to move forward after delays and endings. It’s time to move forward in  a manner that singles you out as unique or as a leader. The key is to call upon your higher instincts and provide clear direction to those who may want to follow. Be aware of the requirements in roles of responsibility, and whether you are called to host a meeting or be an example to a child, allow bigness of spirit to shine through rather than ego driven needs. Quality connections can be made that lead to future opportunities, so expand horizons with the wellbeing of all concerned in mind.

6 – In an instant, you can have a revelation that colors your whole perspective of life. Sudden insights may be life enhancing, or grand delusions. It’s up to you to determine the quality of impressions based on whether or not they include dignity for everyone or seek to set you or your beliefs as the “only” way. Marriage, divorce, birth, and death…the sudden juxtaposition of opposites may be evident in your world, calling upon you to choose everything with an eye to its quality rather than quantity. Be discerning, loving, and compassionate in all things, and ask yourself what the benefits of your thoughts, choice in food/drink and relationships contribute to your life. Choose that which nourishes and uplifts, and let the rest go.

7 – During a year of introspection, May offers an island of possibility for joy, merriment, and celebration. It’s time for you to be more expressive, creative, and bring your sense of humor forward. If you allow events or issues of others to pull you down, you lose a precious opportunity to take advantage of possibilities that are present. You can motivate, persuade, and inspire…so allow yourself the gift of laughter and a childlike sense of wonder even though the storms of life might threaten. Remember that storms bring water, and after a downpour new growth emerges.

8 – It’s a month in which to go over plans, objectives, and redefine your goals. Look at all structured areas of your life and determine where the foundations are strong and where they are wobbly. Can you strengthen them without major intervention, or do you need to rebuild and redo some part of your life?  Major life passages may signal an invitation to push beyond old barriers that have limited your potential. As you are willing to go the distance in spite of roadblocks, you can transform parts of yourself that will greatly benefit from an opportunity for renewal.

9 – Change is all around, and you may feel irritated with what seems slow or restrictive. There is need for adventure or to venture forward in new ways. In this year of completion, you may be willing to consider possibilities you hadn’t entertained before. Expanding horizons, make sure you do so with an eye to the wellbeing of all concerned. Sometimes change for the sake of change leaves one momentarily stimulated, but disappointed in the long run. Glamour does not have longevity. The proper sequence of action is to think things through, and then act. That being said, there is lots that can be stimulating this month.
