This, the second book in the series--Connection--offers the author’s observations in chapters about connection, communication, disagreement, judgment, letting go, forgiveness, acceptance, gratitude, attitude, mind power, character, heart, friendships intimacy, children, family and parenting, truth, and responsibility. The conclusion of this volume also contains information about the author, an affirmation of purpose, and highlights.
Each topic in the book is divided into brief chapters of one to four pages each, headed by a quote from some notable source, and with a few salient points highlighted in the text. The book is not intended to be read straight through, but to be used as a resource guide when the reader is looking for some insight about a particular topic. Most importantly, each section begins with a set of questions to begin the thinking process.
Chernoff is a two-time cancer survivor, and has suffered other physical challenges as well. Meeting the pain and problems in his own life lead him to understand that how we approach life is a matter of choice, and the results we get are the results we have chosen. He has written this series to help the reader confront their own limitations, and ris above them.
Chernoff writes: Don’t sacrifice your truth or your values. Each of us has a special place in this world, and it is our prerogative to find that purpose and fulfill it with every morsel of our being. The loss of life is not nearly as devastating as the loss of what could have been, of the dreams left unfulfilled, and lingering passions undiscovered.
Chernoff challenges the reader to discover those passions and purpose by finding them deep within, and by confronting the limiting beliefs that bind us to banal existence, and then choosing differently.
