Editor's Notes: Okay! This book is just up my alley. I have been an advocate and loud voice for better eating since the 1970's. Alas most of my words have fallen on deaf ears. After an hour long talk about natural, organic foods vs commercial, adulterated, processed foods, inevitably someone would raise their hand and ask, "Can I have diet Coke (or Pepsi, etc.). Stifling an inner groan, I would put on a smile, as if this were an intelligent question and explain why that was not an option.
For years I have grown my own organic produce, made my own tomato sauce, bread, sugar free jams and jellies, canned my own pickles and more with uber-healthy, natural ingredients. I managed a vitamin/supplement store and became an expert in herbs and supplements. I believe in what this book has to offer.
Dr. Davies does a very thorough job of giving us the benefit of his many years experience in helping people with problems such as Candida, STD, Cancer, IBS, Arthritis, Migraine, Eczema, Asthma, Anorexia, Bulimia, Depression, Allergies, and more. We are what we eat, and we generally have a high percentage of trash that goes into our bodies. Dr. Davies' advice is sound, even if it is a bit complicated to follow in some cases.
I agree with almost everything Dr. Davies says, although I leave room for some differences of opinion based on my own experience. I recommend this book if you are a sufferer of chronic problems and don't want to become a living pharmacy container.
I have first hand experience with a lot of what Dr. Davies talks about. I am a former migraine sufferer, I had years of struggle with leaky gut syndrome and candida albicans, I've had irregular heart beat, and chronic UTI. All of these things have been successfully treated with natural means after trying pharmaceuticals that just masked the problem. At one time I couldn't eat wheat, corn, chocolate, coffee, cane sugar, and more. Now I can eat all of that with no ill effects. I am healthier than ever and I followed much of what Dr. Davies talks about in this book. I still follow a natural diet as much as possible.
I'd say, buy the book. Read it and give it a try. What have you got to lose? Only your health challenges.
