Tarot Card of the Month:

8 of Swords

8swordsAt first glance, many people think this is a card of trouble. But, if you look closely at the card, you see that although she is bound and blindfolded, she has found her way through the only opening in the sword barrier. She has white bonds and blindfold showing that she is trusting her higher intuition. She travels along the water path of the subconscious intuition. The castle in the distance indicates great accomplishments in the past. Swords indicate mind, ideas, thinking. By paying attention to the inner mind, the intuitive mind, represented by the water on the ground, she can find her way through the maze of thought.

Astrology and Love

Cupid on the Rampage

Since this is February, the month with Valentine's day, I thought I would address one of  the most frequently asked about astrology topic—love. I often get questions from clients about whether a certain sign is good for them in a partner, for example, "I'm an Aries and I met this really great guy but he's a Virgo. I read that we aren't compatible. Is this true?"

Well, the answer is maybe. What most people don't realize is that your "sign" is only one small fraction of you as a person. What we call our "sign" is only the placement of the Sun when we are born. The heavens are full of all the other Zodiac signs too, and they have their influence on us as well. When you are born, wherever you are in relation to the constellations and planets, a map of the skies is codified in a horoscope, a chart of the skies at the moment you took your first breath. According to astrologers, and I am one, when we take our first breath, the configurations of the planets and Zodiac (plus some other things in the sky) imprint on our mind and body, forming a guide for our life.

So, when people ask about love compatibility, I don't look at the Sun sign of Aries, Taurus, etc. alone. I also look at what is called, the 7th house, the asteroid Juno, the planets Venus, Mars, Mercury. and others, plus the signs they are in and how they form connections with each other. This will show me what kind of partner you will attract; what you expect from a partner, and if you want to know about your love karma, I also look at Saturn.

To find out if a prospective partner is right for you, I need to have horoscope charts for both you and the other person. I then put those charts together to compare your planets, signs, aspects, etc., with the other persons. This is called a Synastry chart.

For example, if your Sun is the same as the other's ascendant sign, there is a great attraction and a good chance for a long-term relationship. If you are female and your Venus is in good relationship with his Mars, there is strong attraction. Unless the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Ascendant, and Descendant are linked in some way from you to the other person, the attraction will fade away quickly.

Comparing the two charts gives a detailed report of attractions, challenges, differences, sexuality, lasting or temporary possibilities, communication, and more. So, the question about whether a certain sign is compatible with another sign, is not answerable. Much more has to be taken into account. For example, in my Astrology home study course, lesson 29, we cover this in depth. Here is a short excerpt:

Sun in major aspect with the Moon: The Sun represents our masculine energy, the Moon, our feminine. Attraction seeks expression of our hidden self (masculine in a woman and feminine in a man) through the other. The Sun is protective, the Moon is nurturing.

By looking at the Sun in your chart and how it compares to the Moon in the other's (and visa versa) you can tell a lot about the attraction.

For love at first sight and the stars-in-your-eyes attraction, look to Venus and Uranus:

This produces a magnetic, fascinating attraction. This can often be love at first sight. Venus/Uranus combinations dazzle and sparkle. This also indicates an unconventional relationship.

If you are looking for, "will it last", the Sun is a good indicator. Sun signs that are 2, 4, and 6 signs apart have the most endurability. But, they are not an insurance of happiness. For example, 4 signs apart is called a square, and this causes attraction, but also a lot of friction. Six signs apart are an opposition, and well, opposites attract, but we aren't always happy about it. Two signs apart is the easiest and most comfortable. Remember though that there are a lot of others things that can help or hinder a happy and satisfying relationship.

I always advise my clients to let me do their compatibility charts before getting involved or committing to another person. I, maybe better than many people know the dangers of that. I've been married 5 times and engaged several more that I broke off before I made a big mistake.

Yes, yes, I know, you're thinking, "But you're an astrologer. How did you not see the problems ahead of time with all those marriages." My only excuse is that, hubby number 1 came before I learned much about synastry charts. The others? Well, like giving yourself a Tarot reading, astrologers are prone to the same kinds of illusion and deletion that everyone else is. I would see a warning sign and rationalize it away. Later, I would whack myself in the head and think, "I knew this would happen! Why didn't I listen to myself? Why didn't I pay attention to the chart?" I always encourage, having a good astrologer do your synastry charts. It's too easy to minimize the warning signs if you are in lust, er, love.

Happy Valentine's day,

Anita

CANCER

Early Month: On the 1st Mars is in your 3rd house of communication aspecting Venus. This can bring out the flirtatious you with wit and humor. Fortunately, Saturn comes in to keep you from doing anything rash. Common sense prevails. The 9th brings Venus and Uranus but frustration builds as you want to break out of old patterns and habits but don't know how yet.

Mid Month: Valentine's Day on the 14th has Mercury and Neptune ups your sense of romance and love. Being with a loved one will make this a very special day. Isn't it nice of the planets to go along with the traditional theme? Just one word of caution, Neptune isn't always the wisest of planets when it comes to logical thinking. Try not to make commitments or promises until the the 16th at least.

Late Month: Old issues you thought resolved, or one's you have refused to deal with might resurface on the 23rd as Mercury opposes Mars in your house of communication, turning it into the house of miscommunication. Mid Month: The 15th has Jupiter in your 10th house. If you don't want to be noticed, you are out of luck. You loom larger than life right now. Also, Venus and Pluto might make you uncomfortable with all that attention. Are everyone's motives benign? Keep your wits about you and don't fall for flattery. Mars in your 1st house opposite Venus in your 7th means, loosen up, let go, and get some R & R, or find a way to make work more fun. On the 6th, the Sun and Mercury are not comfortable with each their aspect to Uranus, but amazing ideas can come out of this time of breaking the mold and venturing out of your normal way of thinking or doing. On the 7th, the Sun and Mercury give your a sharp, quick, mind but also some restlessness that might lead you to act too quickly or make decisions before all the facts are in. The Leo Full Moon is in lighting up your 12th house of destiny and things hidden plus Saturn is going backwards in your 2nd house of security. It's time to evaluate, with a clear head, your financial picture. Don't give in to temptation to make a big purchase your really can't afford.

Mid Month: On the 13-14, Mercury in Pisces and Saturn activate your 7th house of committed relationships and Neptune joins the party to turn your head toward dreamy, romantic, thoughts. This is also a time when your intuition is high but you might not be clear about it.

By the 19th, the Sun in Pisces is in your 7th house of committed relationships with Neptune. Your heart is open and compassion can flow freely. This is a good time for connecting at a deeper level with your loved ones.

Late Month: Mercury opposes Mars and you are impatient and irritable. You are prone to turn any conversation into a debate. Just take a few breaths and think ahead to what this mood will or will not bring you.

Tarot: Knight of Wands. This is a good month for action. Plans you've made can really start now, but you are waiting for the go-ahead from others. Impatience rules, but be assured, it's almost time for you to break out of the starting gate.

LIBRA

Early Month: Venus in your 6th house on the 1st opposes Mars. Oppositions always mean a tug of war. This one is over work and duty vs. your desire to withdraw and pay attention to your inner self or spirituality. On the 7th Saturn and Venus activate your 6th house of job and duty and could result in authority figures being disgruntled and venting on you. On the 8th, Venus goes into Aries and teams with Uranus on the 9th. You are bored, bored, bored and looking for some fun and adventure. It's time to examine your life routines and find out what needs to be changed.

Mid Month: Valentine's Day, the 14th, Mercury and Neptune with Jupiter, Chiron have you dreaming of a better future and making plans for some real change in your life. Late Month: Mars retrograde in Virgo brings danger of trouble if you aren't completely honest with people. Be careful though, on the 22nd, Venus in your 7th house of committed relationships in bad aspect to Mars makes you testy and impatient with your partner. Being honest doesn't mean spouting off whatever is in your mind. Help comes on the 23rd from Mercury and Mars helping you realize when what you say is helpful and when it makes things worse. By the 28th, the Sun and Pluto make you shine in the eyes of others. This is a day of influence. Make the most of it.

Tarot: 3 of Cups. Working on balance of body, mind, spirit is the task for this month. Peace, joy, empowerment, and emotional fulfillment are the rewards.

SCORPIO

Early Month: On the 1st Mercury in Aquarius and Mars are battling it out over 11th house issues of groups, friends, and organizations. Maybe looking at how you integrate with others in a group situation is a good idea. If you don't feel welcome or feel like an outsider, look to  your attitudes and behaviors for answers. It could be that you are just trying to belong to the wrong groups.

The 7th brings trust issues with the Leo Full Moon and a Venus/Saturn hook-up. On the 8th, this intensifies with Venus in Aries as you realize just how much you don't like being told what to do. On the 9th, Venus and Uranus helps you with fresh ideas at work while the Sun and Mars on the 10th help you put them over in a way that they are more sure to be accepted.

Mid Month: On the 15th, Venus and Pluto intensify your moods and make you seem even "deeper" than usual. Going into silence mode just makes it worse. It's time to work on balance between logic and emotion. Talk to someone about it but don't go ballistic when they point out the truth. Mars and Jupiter coming together in a stressful aspect makes it easier for you to say something you would regret later.

The 19th brings the Sun into your 5th house of fun, creativity, and romance. It meets Neptune of dreams, intuition, and fantasy. This is a magical time for you if you indulge your senses and your creative imagination.

Late Month: On the 22nd, impatience and impulsiveness are on the horizon. You are itching to go ahead with Venus in Aries aspecting Mars in Virgo. But the advice is to slow down and do it right rather than quickly. Think of Mastery over mass production.

Tarot: Page of Swords. Your mind is teeming with great ideas but they aren't yet formed enough to plan. This is a time of "what if?" and "Maybe I could . . ." Let your mind wander and roam over the wonderful thoughts and ideas, they will gel into something practical and doable.

SAGITTARIUS

Early Month: On the 1st, temper and frustration might surface as Mars retrogrades into your 10th house of career and public image The Mercury aspects Mars to sharpen your tongue. Venus oppose Mars leading you to examine whether you are getting the family support you want or whether you are just not recognizing it.

On the 7th, the Sun and Mercury in your 3rd house of communication with the Leo Full Moon gives you the gift of creative thought and talk. You might be tempted to color your stories a bit though. You are looking for attention and might be feeling a bit ignored. This is just a wake-up call to examine your sense of self-worth. Venus comes in on the 8th in Aries in your 5th house of romance and play. Take some time to really get some recreation in. You need it. The 9th adds to the fun with a Venus/Uranus conjunction bringing out the creative you. From the 9-11, Jupiter and the Sun also bring out your sense of humor.

Mid Month: The 15th has Venus in your 5th house of romance and fun. That's good. However, Venus also squares Pluto in the 2nd. That's not so good. It could bring out jealousies and any fears of abandonment. But, it is short-lived because Jupiter jumps in with a positive aspect to mars to bring back your confident, sunny self. On the 18th, the Sun and Saturn are showing you the way to make your aims and goals into something real.

Late Month: On the 25th, the Sun and Jupiter with Pluto on the 28th open up your creativity and your ability to get things done. The 25-28 brings intuition as a reliable guide now as the Sun in Pisces is in your 4th house of foundations. This is not a time for adventure, but for appreciating your home and your life as it is. Later, you can adjust, change, and move forward, but on the 28th, count your blessings.

Tarot: 3 of Pentacles. This is a month where you get rewards based on the amount of work you are willing to put into a job, project, or your life in general. Your work will pay off. Money can come as a result of your own efforts.

CAPRICORN

Early Month: The 1st is a bit tense as Mars in Virgo opposes Venus in Pisces from your 9th and 3rd houses. Serious discussions could get heated unless you try to keep a sense of humor about the whole thing. By the 8th, Venus in Aries is in your 4th house of foundations. You are ready for a commitment or a deeper commitment to someone you love, a major project, or an ideal. Venus conjuncts Uranus on the 9th and you are ready for a change. Everyday life seems so stifling and limiting now. You want to break away.

Mid Month: If you have others to deal with in the area of change, practice your tact because on the 10th, Mercury and Pluto give you a short temper and a sharp tongue. Expect an intense couple of days from the 15-16. Venus and Pluto can awaken feelings of doubt, mistrust, and discontent Mars and Jupiter pushes your anger button or brings out your critical nature. By the 16th, though, things start to get better as Mercury and Jupiter hook up to restore self-esteem and an emotional, mental balance. Now is when you can successfully  do any damage control from the day before.

The 18th is good for making money, the Sun and Saturn bring out the financial wizard in you. Trust your instincts but be patient, quick returns are unlikely.

Late Month: The New Moon in PIsces and Neptune come together on the 21st opening up your intuitive self. The esoteric and mystical you seems so simple now. However, you aren't taking things a face value either, kSaturn and Mercury demand proof that what you're experiencing is valid. Mercury and Mars opposing each other on the 23rd helps you express your experiences in an understandable way. You have a lot to say, so say it.

Tarot: 5 of Wands. This card shows young men, with long rods, fighting. Actually they aren't fighting, but practicing battle techniques. There is no anger or fear. This is a time to "play the game." Don't get caught up in the emotions of the fray, just do your job and stay out of the politics. Don't take things personally or seriously.

AQUARIUS

Early Month: ON the 1st, Mercury and Venus with Mars light up your house of money, so issues may come up today that need to be resolved due to someone else's negligence. On the 7th, you are on top of the world. You are witty and funny as the Sun and Mercury play in your 1st house. The Leo Full Moon on the 8th, helps you to feel like socializing and having fun with friends. You are charming, but don't try to please others too much, and don't try to be sarcastic, it will backfire.

Mid Month: Finances are unclear on the 14th as Mercury and Neptune meet up in your 2nd house of money and security. It's a good thing that Jupiter and Chiron are there to help you sort things out. On the 15th, you might be feeling emotional as Venus in Aries squares Pluto. You have Mercury and Jupiter there on the 16th to bring rough times into balance.

Late Month: The 25th brings the Sun in Pisces aspecting Jupiter in your 4th of home and foundations. It's a good time to look at your blessings and realize how much you are loved and appreciated at home. ON the 28th, even though you may doubt it, the Sun/Pluto aspect helps you put your dreams into perspective to bring about something your want very much.

Tarot: The Emperor. Maybe you've become a bit too rigid, thinking that you need to be strong. Look to your nurturing side for balance.

PISCES

Early Month: The month starts right off with Venus in your 1st house and Mars in your 7th. You are flirty, fun, and romantic today. Mercury comes to tickle Mars and you are also a little restless and you might resort to sarcasm that won't be appreciated by others, so think before you speak. By the 7th, you are restless. Venus and Saturn create emotions in you that you can't really deal with right now. Duty or love? The two don't seem to mix.

The Leo Full Moon on the 8th sees Venus going into Aries and playing with Uranus on the 9th. This is a great time for your financial ventures. If you think it's a good idea, it is.

Mid Month: Mercury helps up your intuition on the 13th but you aren't clear on how to interpret what you are feeling. On the 14th, Valentine's day, Mercury and Neptune aspect and you are full of romantic ideas and feelings, but perhaps not able to express it in the way you want. Venus and Pluto square on the 15th and you might get into a situation where trust is an issue. Things might get blown out of proportion if you don't stop and take a breather to rebalance your mind and emotions.

By the 19th, the Sun goes into Pisces and plays with your ruling planet, Neptune. This is a time of inspiration, intuitional insight, and meaningful dreams. Venus and Neptune increase this on the 21st and adds feelings of love and warm fuzzies to the plate.

Tarot: 9 of Swords. Whatever you are worried about comes out to be better than you expect. You are okay, everything will turn out the way it is supposed to.

It is very tue what you say about all the different groups that are sure that 2012 will be the end. I agree that it will open portals for those who are ready to help Earth Ascend into the higher dimensions. There are too many people out there who actually make others beleive that they can do attunements of the Rays and planets on the person for a collosal cost and millions fall for it. I have gone within and found my God and the Ascended masters who I am learning from now. Cut out the middle man I say and go straight to the source of all that there is. I have been given and I feel very humbled to have knowledge from ancient times. I run a workshop on a donation system , guiding others onto their pathway, I then let go and leave them to find out for themselves. Seek and you shall find.
