The topic that has recently touched my heart is “amazement.” As you travel through life you begin to awaken your inner consciousness, the mega-consciousness. At first, you become aware of things you refer to as coincidence, then you begin to understand there is something more. You notice that events are seemingly driven by your own degree of readiness. You move into an understanding of synchronicity. Finally you grasp that your thoughts and emotions are responsible for manifesting events/things in your life. You think of someone and they call. You wonder if there is a drumming circle nearby and you walk into a store you’ve never been to before and see a flyer about a drumming circle. You wish you would’ve remembered to tell a friend to bring a camera to the outing and your friend shows up with a camera. And yet each time you are amazed.

At first I began to feel that this amazement was a result of not fully believing in my own ability to manifest. But then I realized how grown-up that thought was and banished it immediately! Amazement is one of the things that makes life as a human interesting. If you stop being amazed––what’s the point?

Certainly taking responsibility for your own life and trusting in your personal power is essential. However, if the results of your efforts begin to bore you, I think you might have a problem.

The shift in your perception is kind of like the first time Uncle Harold pulled a nickel out of your ear––you were amazed. Of course, by the tenth time you were bored stiff and maybe even annoyed. (I personally was annoyed the second time, but not everyone is blessed with impatience.) You lost your amazement, the event became commonplace, and above all you stopped believing in magical ear nickels. Not to equate sleight-of-hand with the power of manifesting change in your life, but I think you can identify with the loss of amazement. The seeds of the cynic had been planted.

Unfortunately, the cynic seeds are frequently watered by well meaning friends and relatives who are constantly telling you about the things that can’t be done. “Girls don’t act like that.” “Women just aren’t mechanically inclined.” “Men don’t understand women.” And on, and on, and on. The seeds grow into gigantic, life-choking, dream-squashing weeds.

Well, it’s time to pull those cynical weeds and nurture that crop of amazement. This brief stint as a human is too short to waste on energy investments that produce a negative return. Would you invest your money in a sure loser? Then don’t invest your precious lifeforce in a “sure drain.” Dr. Wayne Dyer says energy is just energy––it’s what you do with it that makes it negative or positive.

What are you doing with your energy? Are you making yourself physically sick with worry or are you manifesting the life you deserve? Take a few minutes to evaluate your energetic portfolio. Look at how and where you invest your energy and then calculate the return on your investment. If you are investing your energy in people, places or things that consistently drain your lifeforce, make a decision to cancel that investment.

Now you can take all your newfound energy flow and re-invest it in positive markets. You will be amazed at how well you can take care of yourself. When your investments are paying big dividends you’ll also be amazed at how much you have to give. So let’s hear it for magical ear nickels!
