The very words "soul mate" spark within many the stirrings of a deep and enduring bond between two beings; the bond that traverses time and space. The soul mate relationship is intrinsically woven into the very fiber of the soul’s memory of experience, lifetime upon lifetime. The soul mate connection, at its purest, is truly a call from home, a reminder and a reconnection to the unconditional love of divine source.

When soul mates meet again, the connection is often felt in a most dynamic and profound way. There is often an immediate recognition, if not consciously, then certainly from a subjective level of awareness. In other instances, the connection is not always revealed to one or both for various reasons. The higher self or oversoul aspect which helps "orchestrate" the meeting, may choose not to reveal the connection to the conscious mind. Perhaps there are lessons to be learned from an objective or detached space and, of course, karma can also play a role when soul mates meet again.

Soul mates frequently have a pre-life agreement to reunite at significant points within their life experiences to "remind, awaken, ignite, and otherwise cause to rekindle a greater level of spiritual awareness" for each other. Many times there is an intimate relationship between the two, and many times there is not; depending upon the agreement and circumstances surrounding the reconnection.

The soul mate connection is not a singular one, as we have many individual souls who are linked with us in the soul mate relationship. They come to us at different times, for many different reasons. Many come from a distant past into our present physical awareness to enhance our lives, and always to assist us in learning the lessons that we ourselves have set forth for our own growth and spiritual/human evolution.

When soul mates reconnect in an intimate relationship, the good that arises from that choice can be a profoundly inspiring and beautiful experience. The impact with which a soul mate relationship reveals its truths to us is very powerful indeed. As in all relationships, the initial time spent in the presence of a beloved mate is a cherished and empowering time. As life sets in, schedules present other demands and the dust settles, so to speak, lessons and karma surface, and the learning process begins.

As we are all in the process of clearing, healing and shifting old limiting energies, ideas and thought patterns, the soul mate relationship is a very powerful tool with which to navigate these changes. When "life hits the fan" in most any new situation or relationship, spiritual and emotional stamina, as well as intent, are needed to see it through to conclusion. The situations and learning experiences that the soul mate relationship offers invoke change, growth and release of limiting patterns of behavior. These limiting thoughts, beliefs and behaviors having been lodged in our personal template, presently and ancestrally, are tools of the ego. Once recognized and identified, one has the invaluable opportunity to release the old and reclaim the authentic self.

The soul mate relationship, unlike few others, brings with it the impetus and the necessity of showing up for the relationship by playing full out - from the level of the soul. Cutting through the persona, the soul mate relationship insists that each be present in authentic self. By its very nature, the soul mate relationship delves deeply through the layerings of the personality, the ego, and the human experience. When given the opportunity of viewing the circumstances it incites from a higher vantage point, it activates within us a deeper and clearer level of awareness and understanding of ourselves, our partner and ultimately life––as clearing and healing occurs.

As we spiral upward on the spiritual path, we encounter many opportunities for growth through a myriad of circumstances and meetings. Of the meetings so clearly able to impact us in a way quite unlike any other, the soul mate relationship opens our heart and presents to us another level of living from truth, unconditional love and authenticity.
