What is a food pharmacy? Your diet is one of the most powerful tools you have for your health. All the advances made by modern medicine dont address chronic diseases very well or disease prevention at all. Food is powerful medicine. Sometimes it is your best medicine....even for difficult diseases. The secret is using foods and herbs to change body chemistry. Drugs cant do it. Only foods and herbs can do it! Heres why: each one of us have entirely individual immune systems. It would be impossible for a laboratory to ever develop a drug to activate immunity for everyone. Only something like foods or herbs, which are able to combine with each of us individually, operate at the deepest levels of our bodies, and work with our own enzyme activity, can do the job. Nature is after all, the perfect pharmacy. I think its time to return to Mother Nature and use food as medicine for healing and wellness! Environmental allergens frequently interact in the bodies of allergy sufferers, both activating and aggravating other offending irritants. When this is the case, even the most powerful drugs do not relieve symptoms. Chronic sinus congestion with itchy, watery nose & eyes? Do you have frequent bronchitis? Headaches with sneezing, coughing and scratchy throat? Face swells up, with itchy, rashy skina skin rash on your arms or torso? Trouble sleeping at night? Are you unusually tired during the day? Unusual menstrual pain/congestion? Do you have hypoglycemia? Diet change is a powerful force for overcoming and neutralizing allergens of all kinds. In fact, diet improvement is the single most beneficial thing you can do to control allergic rhinitis reactions. Cut fats, especially fatty animal products. Your body stores more saturated animal fats (and allergens along with them). Drink more water. Good water intake reduces histamine production in histamine-generating cells. Make sure your diet stays nutrient-rich. Eat plenty of plant foods fresh vegetables, fruits, sea greens, whole grains, nuts, seeds and beans. Include fresh vegetable and fruit juices, cultured foods for friendly digestive flora, and flax and canola oils for EFAs. Eat a fresh salad every day. Strengthen your adrenals with low fat, fresh foods. The better your adrenals work, the less sensitivity youll have to allergens. Low adrenal function leads to more severe allergies and to multiple allergies. Boost your immune response with superfoods. Concentrated nutrients from foods like green and blue-green algae (chlorella and spirulina), green grasses (barley, wheat grass and alfalfa) and bee pollen decrease your bodys sensitivity to allergens. A seasonal allergic reaction is more likely to occur if the body has an excess accumulation of mucous which harbors environmental irritants. Start your program with a 3 to 4 day mucous elimination diet, found on page 177 of Cooking For Healthy Healing - Book One - The Healing Diets, available in stores or at www.healthyhealing.com, or call, 1-888-447-2939.) Think of it. Most people start their day with milk or other mucous forming foods!
