I recently received a photograph of a handprint that mysteriously appeared on a mirror, purported to be that of an Ascended Master who is present on earth. This particular Ascended Master is avowed to be a manifestation of divine love for our planet. This was an exceedingly enigmatic experience for me. I was provided with the picture by a good friend who was curious as to character traits I saw in the handprint. After close examination, I was puzzled. The hand in its shape was indeed the psychic hand with long slender fingers greater in proportion to the hand than the palm itself. This, of course, indicates an inclination to the ideal life. The fingers are the upper aerie of the self and the palm its practical ground. Usually, the psychic hand displays slender pointed tips on the fingers. This hand exhibited a slight roundness to the finger tips, almost spatulate in character, workmanlike and round. The most contradictory and obvious sign on this hand itself was the almost complete absence of a heart line, which portrays our ability to give and receive love in both an ideal and physical sense. With the "simian hand" the love line and the head line are conjoined into one line which can be a positive or a very negative condition. This was not the case with this mysterious hand. The head line was independent and curved somewhat down to the lunar mount, indicating a further tendency to the intuitive. The simian line generally runs straight across the palm in a well-defined groove. The mount of Venus, directly under the thumb, was pronounced indicating a passionate, and possibly sensual, nature. This also seemed to run counter to the idea of divine love. The opposing mount of the Moon was also definitely pronounced, reinforcing again the idea of the intuitive. All of these signs were certainly contradictory, both to themselves and, I thought, in the hand of a great teacher. But perhaps the most troubling sign of all for me was the extraordinarily long index finger of Jupiter, which is the "executive" digit on the hand, the CEO, you might say, of the fingers themselves. A disproportionately long finger of Jupiter, curving towards the middle finger of Apollo, was an indication of a will to power, or domination. Obsessive/compulsives quite often have an unusually long index finger, nearly as long as the middle finger itself. To gauge the extent of the will to power on the hand, I then checked the thumb. The phalange on the tip of the thumb is the will or ego and the phalange beneath it is reason and logic. The mysterious handprint showed a greatly diminished phalange of the ego and an extraordinarily long phalange of logic. Again, the contradictory signs in this hand did not seem to fit with the image of an apostle of divine love, one who has had to overcome great obstacles in time and space to perfect an ideal state of being. Well, there you have it. It was an exceedingly contradictory reading, perhaps one of the strangest I have ever done. It made me recall being jolted by the length of the finger of Jupiter, while reading the hand of an acquaintance. I suppressed an exclamation of surprise at discovering it. Later, a mutual acquaintance mentioned the querent had been on medication for obsessive/compulsive disorder for quite awhile. Sometimes, there is great wisdom in changing the subject. Sometimes, the lines and mounts on the hand can be quite clear, and baffling, at the same time. On occasion, the astute palmist must keep a quiet, inner counsel about the inscrutable mysteries so plainly written on the hands. Remove All Your Obstacles!
