“Love wishes to be known, completely understood and shared…It walks in sunlight, open-eyed and calm, in smiling welcome and in sincerity so simple and so obvious it cannot be misunderstood.” ––A Course in Miracles, pg. 436

Turning to face the open arms of Love is a choice. I’m not speaking of romantic love or of needy love, but that love that is deeper, more genuine. It is the love that you can never find by looking outside yourself. Scripture declares “God is Love” and so we know Love is yet another expression of the Divine. And it is in our human-ness that we are called to not only know Love, but to also be God’s expression of Love.

This suggests we humans create the opening for Love to come forth (and is probably the sole purpose of all relationships). It is through relationships we have our greatest potential for knowing and expressing Love. Romantic love and the intimacy connected to romantic love are indeed a part of that whole. But all-inclusive Love is larger, more complete. It runs deeper and absolutely through all of Life’s relationships. Love is present in every event, personified in all people. There is no place that Love is not!

Love wishes to be known and can only be known through the actual experience of it. By noticing, becoming aware of the presence of Love in our life, by feeling it and then extending it, we activate its energy. We breathe life into it by our recognition of it, and it in turn enlivens our very souls and fuels our creative potential. It gives us hope even in uncertainty because it holds a space for good. But in order to be seen it needs our attention. We have to make it real, bring it into form by embodying it.

Love wishes to be fully understood and can only be known and understood through our practice of expressing it. When any encounter feels “unloving”, it is an opportunity for us to notice what in our own life is crying out to be healed. Where do we cover the Light in the events of our own life, or filter it through our perception, or snuff it out completely with our anger or unforgiveness? The problems in our lives serve as opportunities to see where we block the illuminating power of God’s Love.

What area of your own life aches for the healing balm of forgiveness? If we withhold love or forgiveness in any way, from anyone, we are withholding it from our self. Every moment that we spend remembering our wounded-ness pulls us away from Love’s domain. We cannot be in Love and in fear at the same time. We simply must seek opportunity to return to Love.

Love’s arms are open to receive you but that implies action on our part. It tells me that I have to choose to go to Love, to turn toward Spirit’s Light in order to open myself to goodness in a greater way than I have ever done before.

A Course in Miracles speaks of this Love as that which constitutes the Holy Relationship, the “foundation eternally upheld by truth” When our foundation is cemented in Truth, when we stand aligned to its Wisdom, then love shines on us with a gentle smile and tender blessing. The Course assures this blessing for the Holy Relationship. And there is no relationship excluded from holiness. But we must first choose to see life in Love’s Light if we are to understand. “Walk in sunlight, open-eyed and calm”. Choose today to move into the open arms of Love dear friends!
