As we are all becoming so well aware, the world is going through immense transitions right now, as each of us are personally. Its very easy to feel helpless and afraid as we stand in the shadow of an uncertain future. Even when I go through those kinds of feelings, the Universe continually demonstrates to me how much power I actually have to affect the course of the future even as one individual. The hundredth monkey syndrome is a classic story. There was a group of islands in the South Pacific inhabited by monkeys, which experienced a severe drought. The monkeys were beginning to starve due to lack of food so a team of anthropologists visited one of the islands to try to help. They discovered that there were sweet potatoes on the island, so they showed one of the monkeys how to dig up the root and eat it. By the next day, all the monkeys had learned how to dig up roots and were eating. The anthropologists went to the next island and to their amazement, they found the monkeys were already digging up the sweet potatoes and were eating them. In fact, as they visited each island, the monkeys were eating sweet potatoes. Somehow, the education they provided to the original monkeys transferred by some illogical means to all the monkeys on all the islands. Another example of a similar kind of phenomena is when the first track runner achieved the four-minute mile. Prior to this accomplishment, it was thought that it was an impossible feat. But after it happened the first time, suddenly many people were running four-minute miles. There are many more examples I could site, but the bottom line is we are connected. Our thoughts and our consciousnesses are collectively creating our future. Fear creates fear and love creates love. The challenge is in the application. How to transform fear to love; mistrust to trust? If the hundredth monkey syndrome is applied, the more of us who are attuned to love, the more it spreads. Can our enemies feel this? You bet! Maharishi, the initiator of transcendental meditation, did some experiments where a group of meditators would gather together in a city and meditate. During the period that this was going on in a given city, the statistical incidents of violent crimes would diminish. When the meditators sat in meditation at other cities, the same thing would happen. Every attitude, every thought we hold will ultimately become a self-fulfilling prophecy. And our planet is fulfilling the prophecies our thoughts have created. So the challenge is, how to change the negative thought forms we personally experience into positive ones. Here are a couple of things which have worked for me: 1. Tears Crying seems to release deep-seated negativity. Afterwards, I always experience a clearing and openness. 2. Chanting out loud I have experienced many times the ability to transform a negative attitude in myself, via chanting. Something in the resonance of the chant in my body transforms and releases the negative feelings that had built up and allows me to reconnect with my true nature. OM is a good one. Breathing deeply and holding the sound for as long as I can, works best for me. If you have your own favorite chant, use it. 3. Releasing negative energy from my body via massage Our muscles have a memory, which retains every negative feeling that passes through them. When the muscles get too tight they become like armor, not allowing energies to flow in or out. If this occurs for you, you owe it to yourself to get release. If you have trouble affording a professional massage every week or as often as needed, find a massage partner and trade massages with each other. 4. Attend spiritual gatherings When groups of people get together of one purpose, there is a renewing energy that is always present. When you are sitting within your own negative patterns, it can be very hard to get up, walk out the door and face people. Force yourself. If you find the right gathering, you can transform your energy and as a fringe benefit you might find new friends who are more aligned with your inner nature. 5. Make someone smile When you make someone else feel good, it comes right back to you and transforms your own blues. And first and foremost, when you have successfully connected with your own love and light, send it out for planetary healing; imagine that everyone in the world can feel it, especially perceived enemies. Send it to your loved ones. Send it to your associates. See everyone healed and joyful. On some level they can feel it. And when enough of us do this, we will have transformed our world. It can really work that way. Its the hundredth monkey syndrome. ©2002 PoemsintheKeyofLife e-mail: wwdcp@poetic.com Website: www.wynnfree.com The Messenger Website Copyright © 2005 The Messenger - All rights reserved |
