Do you see the changes in the children of today? Do you see them as being or acting different than children of the past? Do you see them behaving totally different than you would have in the past?

These children are being born into very amazing times to which we are still learning to adapt. They are coming in fresh and do not know of the pain, control, or fear of our past.

However, we find ourselves in vulnerable and sometimes challenging moments. This is to be expected, since many of us are releasing that from our past which no longer serves us, and are walking into a brand new and unknown place! Looking at this point of view, one may start to understand a lot of the frustration that lies within the gap of these two generations.

It is no surprise to me to see so many come to the center complaining of the struggles they have with their children. I often see and feel it with my own children as well. I am continually shown though, that it is due to a huge misunderstanding on both parts.

The parents (and sometimes teachers) don't understand why these children are so demanding, and why they have such a hard time listening to the adults.

They often refer to themselves as "when I was a child I would have never acted that way, or said those things, or disrespected an adult" etc.! This is where the first misunderstanding comes in for the adults. They forget that they lived in very, very different times. Even 10 years ago things were drastically different. How can we expect our children to react the same way we did, when things are not the same? We have opened and requested the doors of change, well here they are! These children come in very aware and sensitive to the energies around them. The higher vibration of these times, have assisted these children in coming in much clearer and knowing. They see and know much more than many adults do at this time.

Another misunderstanding I see, is we allow the age of the children to get in our way of listening and learning from them. And so we show a lack of respect for them, and they follow in suit with us! For it is no longer the time of "do as I say, not at I do"––it is very much the time of the children following exactly in our footsteps––even mirroring us! That is where we start to feel the challenge. And great, for that is what they are here to do! They are here serving as most amazing gifts, to help us grow and change as we have requested!

The children today get very frustrated with us, for they do not understand the fear and control we exhibit. I see many of these children as energy sponges. Since they are so sensitive to the energy around them, they often pick up on it, and the only way they know how to deal with it is to act it out! That is why I believe we see so much anger, frustration and violence with these children. I feel that many of the times they are acting it out for those and the environment around them! They do not understand our fear of our own light, power and abilities and so they see us not living our truth and this too creates frustration for them. They do not understand many of the processes we go through. They often do not understand why we feel unworthy and undeserving of so much, and (until shown otherwise) they know their worth so well that they often act as royalty; and this shows up as a problem for us. Many adults take this in the wrong way. For aren't we all starting to remember our true value and worth. Even working towards accepting it and loving ourselves enough to show it? Well then, why do we act so surprised when they display their confidence in themselves? To many of the children we are walking contradictions. We talk of healing and of loving ourselves but we do not always show it, and often put them down for showing and requesting it.

Please do not misunderstand me. This is not a criticism or judgement on what or how we do things as parents and teachers. It is simply another way of viewing what is happening to possibly help shift our consciousness and direction with the children in our lives. The children also have their part of the lessons. I often work with them on being more patient with us, and where we come from. I try to explain to them about our background to help them grow greater understanding and patience of the adults in their lives. I also see (and work with them on this) that they need a little guidance on how to adapt to these times and energies that do not resonate with them. They could use assistance with energy clearing, grounding and balancing for themselves and their environment.

I believe that if both parents and children start to take some time to really understand where the other is coming from, our relationships would grow much stronger. If we could learn to take each day as it truly is––a new day––and see the other person as new, releasing all expectations and assumptions; we would bring so much more balance, harmony and clearer communication to our relationships and families! I look forward with great excitement to the time where the gap with our children grows less and less!!
