“These girls I paint are my children, my creations, and they each represent a different part of me. Life is always changing, so am I. We learn about ourselves through change. The paintings are oil on masonite board. The texture is created with gesso. I paint with cotton swabs and paper towel. I never use paintbrushes. This way I can get closer to the board and I feel as though I have more control with the twists and turns. With coffee and music in place, I begin adding color to the board. Plans are never sketched ahead of time and I don’t use models. The Girls just start showing up - I don’t know who will step forward. Sometimes they fight each other, and sometimes I am sitting there alone.” To see more of Lisa’s paintings: www.lisaalbinger.com
