This is the time in which a new year [is] born... I have perfect faith in you to do all that you would accomplish. (Text, page 329)
There is no question, I love the birth of a new year. It holds the beauty of vast and unknowable possibility, it absolutely thrills me! The enigmatic nature of a clean calendar invites me to imagine noble kismet. And so I do.
A Course in Miracles speaks richly of the Holy Newness of a Great Awakening. In fact, the season of Christmas, from a Course perspective, is for celebrating the birth of holiness into the world. Like the new year, it is a symbol of change, the opportunity for us to give birth to our own new self, mothered by our humanness and fathered by God. (Marianne Williamson coined this expression.)
The Course tells us that Love is what we are born with and fear is what we have learned here. Consequently, the spiritual part of the human journey becomes practicing relinquishment of fear, or unlearning. I heard a provocative quote the other day. Alvin Toffler said The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. I think its very humbling to consider which beliefs we may hold that remain fear-based and beg to be relearned.
This is the time in which a new year is born
how will you envision this fresh new year unfolding in your own life? The birth of Christ, or the birth of the Christ Consciousness, does not happen just once a year. Every day, every moment holds potential for allowing ourselves to be more than we were the moment before. When I am patient with myself, when I can see that all my experiences are filled with opportunity for me to be more loving, more peaceful, and more compassionate, then I never have to feel like I have failed or fallen short. God can use every situation to bring Light and Awareness into my thinking and feeling, moving me to make choices in Holy Newness.
We live in this world for a reason, though it may not always seem clear. We are here to heal that sense of separation by seeing the Love of God everywhere. I heard a lecture once by Bev McNeff, in which she said its not like youre gonna wake up one day and not see the world anymore. Its about transcending the world by loving it not hating it or denying it or attacking it. We have to transcend it! She states that transcendence is a practice of allowing God to see through you, to see the call for help in others, and not to see their sin. Dont hate the world, but change your mind about the world, A Course in Miracles challenges.
Relationships are the most holy assignments, because they offer the greatest opportunity for two people to experience mutual growth togetherwe become the Holy Spirits laboratories when we accept that every encounter is a holy encounter full of possibility. This is the time in which a new year is born! And Spirit has perfect faith that we will accomplish all that is before us this year.
So will the year begin in joy and freedom. There is much to do. Accept the Holy Instant as this year is born and take your place in the Great Awakening. T329
This year imagine your Divine Nobility. What are you willing to relearn dear friend? It is time to be born into your greatness and you cannot fail! Namaste
