"Every Situation when properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal."
––CIM T328

How quick we are to judge, when the events in life unfold contrary to our expectations. In our human attempt to make sense out of all that occurs we are often left feeling confused and uncertain about things, especially when our efforts are confronted with a surprise or a detour we hadn't anticipated. Yet when "properly perceived", we realize that nothing is outside of Love's Domain. God is present in absolutely every situation, and the unexpected can become a new path to healing. How can we remain open to the shift and change that brings us to healing?

In the Kabbalah there is a passage that states, "Every phase of evolution commences by being in a state of unstable force and proceeds through organization to equilibrium. Equilibrium having been achieved, no further development is possible without once more oversetting the stability and passing through a phase of contending forces."

In our beautifully human attempt to keep our lives comfortable, we seek stability and something more permanent than life really offers. All forms of life are subject to the influence of cycles. Everywhere in nature we see evidence of this, the alternating phases of growth and decay, the ebb and flow of all that lives. Why should the human experience be any different? Yet, we seek to keep things as they are, familiar and comfortable. Pearl S. Buck made a wise statement: all birth is unwilling. We fight change, as if it were something intending to bring us harm. Yet from the chaos of our resistance we give birth to newness. As we are able to surrender the old, we open ourselves proportionately to infinite new possibility. Perhaps it is our very resistance to change that shakes things up to the unstable dimensions preceding equilibrium.

If that's true, then we might gift ourselves with the peace of non-judgment. In other words, don't be hard on yourself when you notice your resistance. It isn't wrong to feel uncomfortable with change. If you long to flow more evenly with the rhythm of life, gently notice where you are attached to things. Accept your attachment to it. Bless it. Know that the recognition moves you a step closer to release and Holy Newness.

A Course in Miracles tells us that a miracle is any time we have a shift in our perception. Our ability to choose a different response in a difficult situation becomes a miraculous event. Change brings healing when our viewpoint shifts from being limited to more open. It's a pulling back from that close-up perspective, away from the details and into a broader, expanded view. As we see more of the whole, we immediately open ourselves to greater possibility. I read somewhere recently that when we change things in the physical experience, we are somewhat limited to what's right in front of us. But when we change things on the inside, when we open ourselves to potential for inner-shifts, possibility expands exponentially. The inner-shift happens when we seek a new perspective on what's occurring.

"How would my awareness of myself and the world change this instant, if I simply put all my energy into welcoming love into my life?" This is a profound pondering from the Course. How might our awareness shift this instant if we welcomed love into the very situation we resist? How can we remember that this too is within Love's Domain?

Look for ways to find new qualities of experience when you are going through change in your life. Always look to see ways the change is bringing healing to your life. And always remember that when you can't change what's going on outside of you, you have the power to change inside. You always have the power to choose love, peace, and ultimately happiness by moving with the rhythm of change rather than fighting it. Namaste’ dear Ones.
