Feng Shui for the Holidays by Samantha Pennala " The Chi Wiz"

Remember that the idea of Feng Shui is to enhance the life energy, or Chi, in the home or workplace and make things more harmonious. The most important thing for the holidays, however, is to keep YOU harmonious and filled with life energy! Not an easy task in our hustle and bustle society!

The holiday is a veritable feast for the senses. We are engulfed in the sounds, the smells, the visual delights, the hugs and "warm fuzzies", and the marvelous tastes and treats for the palate that we only experience once a year. So, let’s use these sensual delights to Feng Shui our homes and offices for the holidays.

The first order of the day is to keep things SIMPLE, probably the most difficult task of all. There are many things you can use to enhance the home to help smooth out the energy roller coaster created by the holiday rushes. Let’s take a look at the Western version of the Feng Shui Bagua to look at some of the areas we can begin to create more harmony in our homes and workplaces. (front door/entrance to room on this wall)

Each of these areas can be harmonized by simple additions and attention that can help smooth the energy and create more peace in your environment. Let’s look at some of the areas to see how we can create that place of refuge and regeneration that we need in the midst of all the chaos.

*Remember, you can place the bagua outline over the whole house or over each individual room. Just be sure that the Knowledge/Career/Helpful People goes along the wall where you enter the house, room, or office.

Since the holidays focus on family and friends, let’s begin by adding enhancements to the Family Area and the Relationship Area.

To calm and balance the unsettled or chaotic energy of the family you can place a gently moving mobile in the Family Area of the house. You can make it general by depicting loving and fun family style images, or you can choose images that reflect the special season. Create family health and peace by placing new green plants or other items with the color green in the Family Area to enhance the characteristics of harmony, peace, and growth. Enliven and strengthen the family (or the office staff) by hanging a wind chime in the Family Area. Be sure that the chime has a pleasing and clear sound.

To enhance the Relationship Area of the home or office, add some fresh new green plants to this area also. This will help to power up the harmony, peace, and growth of the relationships that come into contact with you. This is a good area to add some soft pink items (GREAT place for a loving rose quartz crystal) to generate that unconditional love that the season is really all about.

Add some red power plants (poinsettias are in season!) to the Wealth Area to keep the finances strong on the home front. You could also add some gold silk flowers to this area to boost your wealth. This time of year, good old Pic & Save often has those gold poinsettias that are quite effective and attractive for this purpose.

Fill your home with soothing music as much as possible. Check out some Mozart for its healing attributes. Keep the aromas in the home comforting and love-inspiring. Have potpourri of apple, cinnamon, vanilla or whatever scent makes you feel all warm and fuzzy and at peace. Take a bath with lavender, pine, rose, or tangerine to help you relax and calm down after that hectic shopping spree or long day at work! Keep a small bottle of basil, peppermint, or spearmint to inhale gently to revive your mental fatigue and weariness due to stress and financial worries.

Add a faceted crystal to any area and place it with intention to bring a specific energy or intention into that center.

Make your home or office a veritable wonderland of sights and sounds and smells and touch and tastes that fill your heart with wonder and your Soul with great joy and laughter.
