At least one out of two people, literate or not, want to write a book, claims Jeff Herman, agent to bestselling authors, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
Maybe you dream of writing a book filled with your wisdom and knowledge. But dreaming and doing are two different things. In my class, Write Your Book! Birthing Spirit Into Form, I meet people, who underestimate the process.
Writing a book is a spiritual journey of discovery, healing and mastery. You meet your core issues, and have the opportunity to heal through an experience that transports you to new heights of awareness. Even if you could manifest your book in an instant, would you really want to skip the process?
Writing a book is also a practical experience. Perhaps youre like me. You dont want to drop out and head for the beaches of Costa Rica. And you dont belong in the corporate world with its emphasis on profit at all costs.
Your work may exist between New Age thought and the business world. How can you bridge the two? In addition to your work as a teacher, healer, artist or counselor, you can write a book that offers specific tools and techniques that can be applied in everyday life. Millions of people, as many as 50 million in the U.S. alone, are searching for ways to integrate their values and beliefs with their daily life.
In the August 13, 2001 edition of the San Antonio Business Journal, author Jan Kilby states: Writing books is one of the most effectiveand most overlookedmarketing strategies. Books can market an organization to current and prospective clients, employees, volunteers, colleagues and vendors.
As a marketing tool, a book can spread your teachings to a wide audience. It can also enhance your image as an authority on your subject, add value to your work and allow you to touch the lives of people you will never meet.
Yet the outcome may not be as important as the process of telling your story, risking ridicule and judgment, exposing your most intimate thoughts, developing discipline and allowing a story to pour through you that is bigger than you imagined.
When you set pen to paper, you have the opportunity to track the movement of your mind as it skips and leaps from one memory or idea to the next. You will discover truths hidden even from yourself. Putting pen to paper opens a door to your inner life, gives a voice to your higher self and exposes wounds yet-to-be healed.
Life isnt perfectly effortless, not even for saints. Youre here to learn and grow, heal and evolve. Youre here to bridge the inner life of spirit with the material world of form. And writing a salable book is one way to fulfill your destiny.
